so I am back from Italy and Germany and synod youth camp....feeling rather tired
I really really wanna Thank God for this wonderful experience in Europe. It is my first time there and i love it:D I hope to go back there some time soon:D it was realy an eye-opener.
Highlights include:
ITALY: Sistine chapel in Vatican city(it is country on its own btw)
Michelangelo is really talented:)(he is actually a sculptor) the paintings are beautiful, haha and it is really cool to know wat he was thinking when he painting them (he painted the person who criticised he works as a devil...LOL & he painted himself in the painting too)
oh and i climbed Mt Vesuvius-a volcano, my 1st time climbing a volcano and its active. I also visted the city of Pompeii, which was covered in ashes by a huge eruption, but archilogist have managed to recover and reconstruct the city and they are actually rather modern and interesting.
the Colosseum was really amazing, the architecture was cool.
And the Trevi fountain is the most beautiful fountain i have ever seen. I tossed a coin in meaning i am ensured a return to Rome! yay! haha.
Venice is just LOVELY, I must must go there again, maybe for my honeymoon and take a ride in a gondole!LOL the senery in Venice is AWESOMEly Beautiful, the masks were pretty and the gondoles enchanting. I just hope that it would not disappear due to global warming:( oh and i learnt alot more about the catholic/christian history in the catacombs-v.interesting.
I really really wanted to vist Italy(especially Rome and Venice)since before i ever heard about this trip and i am very thankful that the Lord blessed me with this amazing journey. I never expect to go to Italy at the age of 15. I think there were many events that happened during this time but i think that it was the right decision to go for this trip, it is really a very different and interesting experience. THANK YOU LORD:D
Austria: we visted Mozart's birthplace, its a beautiful town:D oh and i love the acceries shop "claire's" :D oh and i saw the place where the sound of music was filmed.
Salt Mine--> it was exciting. took a tram at 1st then walked, its like a disney land ride with videos and stuff like that down there. the salt mine is in both Austria and Germany, so there was a point where i crossed the border:D I stood directly above the line and I was in 2 places at 1 time!(a walk to remember) BUT i forgot to take a picture!!! anyway it was really interesting and at a point, we crossed the salt lake via a boat:) and to go down the mine, we used slides, it was really fun. to go up we took an escalator.
Germany: the dachua memorial camp was depressing, the prisoners were forced to give up their freedom, rights and human diginity. i would describe it as horribly disturbingly inhumane. I hope there will be no more wars. world peace:) anyway it was really windy and chilly there in the camp.
Documentation centre: it is like a museum abt the Nazis/germany. they used this equipment that when you press the numbers it will read to you wat is on the board in english. (the boards are in German) same goes for videos. CooL.
Christmas Markets: they were all very pretty and festive, like Singapore's Pasa Malum, just that they sell christmassy stuff, somewhat like a carnival too. love all the goodies/candies/cookies they sell.
all in all I enjoyed myself v.much:) yay! oh not to forget those renewed and new friendships i made:D Had a superb time, missing it so much.
Youth camp for me was great because i was able to meet friends that i havent seen in a long long time, friends i made from the clown musical:)and gotta know pple who i didnt know were christians(moreover coming from presbyterian churches)im still wondering who my angel is..hahaha, oh there is this really great Singapore's own acapella group called agapella:) that performed for us during finale night:) check out their website www.agapella.net I must thank God for preventing me from falling ill til the very last day of camp, and guess wat? NO JET LAG....yippies:D
